Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!
If you can tear yourself away from family today, please check out Google … I got to design their special doodle for today. Believe it or not, as simple as it looks, I spent ALMOST TWO WEEKS on this project! I did about 30 options (with various levels of detail), of which we showed them 20 or so. They picked this one and one of the fancier options, but we couldn’t figure out how to implement the changes they needed on that one without breaking some Peanuts style guide rules, so we gave them this one. The most elaborate one took me 2 days to assemble and was all of the characters eating dinner (complete with cups, plates, forks, etc.) around a “Google” table and shouting at each other, spilling stuff etc. In the end, out of the 20 or so we showed them they went with the one that is about a 4 in detail (20 being the most elaborate) and a 2 in cleverness.
Anyway, I don’t care … I like this one too and I’m so honored they let Snoopy commemorate Thanksgiving, and that I got to do it. Usually Google’s super-talented Dennis Hwang does all of the doodles. Thank you Google!!! And everyone don’t forget to watch for the Snoopy balloon in the Macy’s parade and then watch the Thanksgiving special on ABC tonight! It’s a very Snoopy Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown! (Okay, that was cheesy but I had to do it.)
